The Instructional Assistant supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education.  S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Instructional Assistant observes and documents children's interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Instructional Assistants are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Be at least 18 years old; have a High School Diploma or equivalent; Have a ECE Initial Certificate (12 credits) or Short Certificate (20 credits). AA in ECE preferred.
• Have at least 3-5 years of experience working in an early learning environment.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate using proper English grammar
• Have a MERIT account including a STARS ID number.
• Child Care Basics Initial Training (via MERIT)
• Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification and Bloodborne Pathogens certification.
• Must clear full background check and must pass health screening including TB Test.

Position Summary:

The Co-Preschool and Co-Toddler Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day to day operational activities of all classrooms. Teachers must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment, where children are actively engaged and encourage to succeed. The Co-Preschool and Co-Toddler Teacher must be skilled in communication with both children and adults, to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally, appropriate practices and early learning standards.

·        Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.

·        Lead by example, encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.

·        Experience implementing the creative curriculum and teaching strategies gold assessment tools.

·        Plan individual and group age appropriate activities to actively engage children, and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.

·        Teach basic skills, such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.

·        Observe and evaluate children’s performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.

·        Attend to children’s basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers (if needed).

·        Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.

·        Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.

·        Teach proper eating habits and personal hygiene.

·        Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.

·        Enforce all administration policies and rules, governing students.

·        Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health related problems, and discuss them with your supervisors, parents or guardians, and child development specialist.

·        Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children’s progress and needs, disturb determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning development.

·        Maintain accurate records forms and files.

·        Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality and improvement.

·        Perform other duties as assigned.

·        Professional development – Continuing education in Early Childhood Education and annual STARS training.

Introduction:

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Infant/Waddler, Toddler, and Pre-K Support Teachers to join our team and provide high-quality care and education to infants and 1 year old's, as well as our 2's and for our 3-5 Pre-K classrooms in our early learning child care center. The Infant/Waddler, Toddler, or Pre-K Support Teacher will be responsible for supporting the lead & assistant teachers in age-appropriate activities, diaper changes, cleaning up after activities/lunch, and communicating with parents at pick up if necessary. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills and be able to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for infants/waddlers/toddlers/pre-k, including providing emotional and physical support

• Assisting in implementing age-appropriate activities to promote the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of infants/waddlers/toddlers/pre-k

• When necessary, communicate with parents about their child's day

• Follow all policies and procedures related to the care and education of infants/waddlers/toddlers/pre-k including adhering to safety protocols and maintaining accurate records

• Collaborate with lead/assistant teachers and staff to ensure continuity of care and education

• Other duties as assigned
